The Bobcats hosted the event at the 6,087-yard, par 72 Victoria Country Club in Victoria, Texas.

    The University of Iowa women’s swimming and diving freshman Becky Stoughton was named this year’s Big Ten FreshmAn Swimmer of the Year during the final session of the 2012 Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships. The Hawkeyes placed ninth overall with 201 points. Minnesota won the Big Ten Title with 680.5 points

    The University of Iowa men’s tennis team fell to Illinois State 5-2 on Saturday at the Evergreen Racquet Club. Iowa falls to 1-5 on the season while the Redbirds improved to 3-3.

    The University of Iowa softball team posted school records in runs, hits, RBI, total bases and team batting average in a 26-5, five-inning rout of in-state rival Iowa State on Saturday at the Littlewood Classic.

    The University of Iowa women’s tennis team suffered its first dual loss of the season at Oklahoma on Saturday. The 32nd-ranked Sooners (5-4) defeated the Hawkeyes, 5-2. Iowa is 3-1 this season.

Woods has been named linebacker coach, while Ferentz will coach the offensive line. The staff announcements were made Saturday by head coach Kirk Ferentz.

    No. 5/6 Arizona State got a walk-off three-run home run from Elizabeth Caporuscio in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally for a 5-2 victory over the University of Iowa softball team Saturday night in the Littlewood Classic.
  • Track. Austin Captures Two Titles at Iowa Invitational
    The University of Iowa track and field teams recorded 15 first place finishes at the Iowa Invitational on Friday at the Iowa Recreation Building. Drake, Northern Iowa, Central College, Simpson College, and St. Ambrose competed in the event, but no team scores were kept.
  • W. Gymnastics. GymHawks Down Iowa State, 194.150-192.750
    The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team won all four events in a 194.150-192.750 victory over Iowa State Friday evening. The No. 24 GymHawks crowned three different individual champions in a decisive win over their instate rivals. Over 1,200 fans showed up to cheer on the GymHawks inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena, site of the 2012 Big Ten Women’s Gymnastics Championships.

    The University of Iowa women’s swimming and diving team broke school records in the 400-medley relay, 400 IM and 100 back at Friday’s finals session of the 2012 Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships.
