  • M. Golf. Iowa Men’s Golf Advances to NCAA Championships
    The University of Iowa men’s golf team fired a one-over par 285 to claim fifth place at the NCAA Southeast Regional and earn a trip to the NCAA Championships, to be held at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Ca. The Hawkeyes ended the event with a score of 867 (+14) to earn the final spot by one stroke.
  • Baseball. Hawkeyes Win Finale, Series Against Purdue
    The University of Iowa baseball team pounded out 17 hits and scored the game’s first seven runs en route to a 7-6 victory over No. 13 Purdue Saturday afternoon at Duane Banks Field.
  • Baseball. Zeise, Seniors Close Out UI Careers Today in Finale
    As the University of Iowa baseball team prepares for its final game of the 2012 season today against 13th-ranked Purdue at 1:05 p.m. at Duane Banks Field, 12 Hawkeye seniors will slip on their Iowa uniform for the final time.

    A four-run fourth inning propelled the University of Iowa baseball team to a 6-1 triumph over No. 13 Purdue. Tonight’s game was played in front of a season-high 1,260 fans at Duane Banks Field.
  • Baseball. Big Ten Announces Sites for Future Baseball Tournaments
    The Big Ten Conference announced on Friday the sites for its 2013 and 2014 baseball tournaments. The 2013 Big Ten Baseball Tournament will be held at Target Field in Minneapolis, the home of Major League Baseball’s Minnesota Twins, marking the first time that the event will be held at a Major League Baseball facility. The 2014 tournament will be held at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb., the site of the NCAA Division I Men’s College World Series.
  • M. Golf. Brant Shoots Under Par to Lead Iowa Men’s Golf
    Senior Chris Brant fired a one-under par 70 to lead the University of Iowa men’s golf team in the second round of the NCAA Southeast Regional. The Hawkeyes are in 11th place following two rounds of action at the University of Georgia Golf Course with a score of 581 (+13). The Hawkeyes shot a second round score of 293 (+9) Friday, the sixth best round of the day.

    The University of Iowa baseball team dropped an 11-8 decision to 13th-ranked Purdue Thursday night. The two conference foes combined for 19 runs and 29 hits.
  • M. Golf. Kelpin, Vandersee Lead Iowa Men’s Golf
    Senior Barrett Kelpin and freshman Ian Vandersee each shot even par 71 to lead the University of Iowa men’s golf team in the first round of the NCAA Southeast Regional Thursday. The Hawkeyes are in 11th place following first round action at the University of Georgia Golf Course with a score of 288 (+4).
  • Track. 34 Hawkeyes NCAA Bound
    The NCAA announced today that 34 student-athletes from the University of Iowa have qualified for the 2012 NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships. The NCAA West Preliminary Round will be held May 24-26 in Austin, Texas, at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

  • Baseball. Iowa Hosts No. 13 Purdue in Season Finale
    Iowa closes the regular season when it hosts No. 13 Purdue in a three-game set beginning Thursday at Duane Banks Field. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. The Hawkeyes (21-26, 8-13) and Boilermakers (40-10, 16-5), the regular season Big Ten champions, will also play at 6:35 p.m. on Friday and at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday.
  • W. Tennis. 24 Hawkeyes to Watch: Shelby Talcott
    University of Iowa women’s tennis freshman Shelby Talcott wants to be among the nation’s best. After playing at the top of the lineup in her first season as a Hawkeye, she’s on her way there.
  • Softball. 5 Hawkeyes Earn All-Big Ten Honors
    Five members of the University of Iowa softball team earned All-Big Ten recognition, the league office announced Wednesday. Freshman Megan Blank, sophomore Kayla Massey and senior Liz Watkins were named first team honorees, sophomore Michelle Zoeller was a second team selection and junior Johnnie Dowling earned third team honors.
  • W. Tennis. Molnar Earns MVP Honor
    Hawkeye senior Sonja Molnar has been named Most Valuable Player for the University of Iowa women’s tennis team. Head coach Katie Dougherty announced the honor at the team’s annual awards banquet May 3.
  • Track. 6 Hawkeyes Earn All-Big Ten Honors
    Six University of Iowa student-athletes have earned All-Big Ten track and field honors. Matt Byers, Troy Doris and McKenzie Melander earned first team all-conference honors following their first place performances at the Big Ten Championships on May 13. Betsy Flood, Ethan Holmes and Ashley Liverpool earned second team accolades. The honors were announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
  • General News. Haddy to Receive CoSIDA Lifetime Achievement Award
    Former University of Iowa Sports Information Director Phil Haddy will receive the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Lifetime Achievement Award June 25 in St. Louis. The award will be presented during the Hall of Fame Luncheon at the annual CoSIDA Convention, held June 22-26.

    The University of Iowa women’s cross country program has been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team for the ninth straight season. The 2011 Hawkeyes compiled a team cumulative 3.45 GPA and placed fourth at the NCAA Midwest Regional.

  • M. Basketball. Iowa to Play Illinois in Big Ten Tournament First Round
    Iowa will play Illinois in the first round of the 2012 Big Ten Tournament beginning Thursday in Indianapolis. The two teams will tip-off for the first time ever in the conference tournament at 10:30 a.m. (CT) inside Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
  • M. Tennis. Dunn Continues Singles Success
    The University of Iowa men’s tennis team fell to No. 18 Illinois 6-1 on Sunday evening inside the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex. Iowa (1-8 overall, 0-1 in Big Ten) claimed one match against Illinois (7-3, 2-0) as junior Garret Dunn won in singles. Four of Iowa’s last six matches have been against ranked opponents.
  • Baseball. Hawkeyes Top Youngstown State in a Wild One, 16-15
    CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Iowa baseball team defeated Youngstown State Sunday in a back-and-forth game that lasted 10 innings and four hours and 31 minutes, 16-15. The Hawkeyes won on a game-ending pinch-hit double by Taylor Zeutenhorst. Iowa scored at least one run in every inning except the first two frames. The game was played at Raymond C. Hand Park as part of the Austin Peay/Riverview Inn Classic.
  • Wrestling. McDonough, St. John Win Big Ten Titles
    The University of Iowa wrestling team crowned two individual champions on its way to a third place finish at the 2012 Big Ten Championships. Junior Matt McDonough and sophomore Derek St. John each brought home conference titles. The Hawkeyes posted 126 team points. Penn State (149) and Minnesota (134) finished first and second, respectively.
  • W. Tennis. Hawkeyes Rebound with Upset Win over #38 DePaul
    The University of Iowa women’s tennis team upset No. 38 DePaul (10-4), 5-2, Sunday at the Hawkeye and Tennis Recreation Complex. The Hawkeyes improved to 5-3 this season, including a 5-0 record at home. Iowa is 11-2 all-time against the Blue Demons.
  • Softball. Iowa Falls at No. 8/9 Oklahoma
    The University of Iowa softball team dropped a 4-2 decision at No. 8/9 Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon at Marita Hynes Field.

  • W. Gymnastics. Iowa Posts Season High on the Road
    The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team posted a season high team score and reeled in three individual event titles on the way to a first place finish over Texas Women’s University, Brigham Young and Southeast Missouri State. Iowa chalked up an impressive 195.875. TWU (195.125) finished second, ahead of BYU (194.900) and SEMO (188.925). The competition was hosted by TWU inside Kitty Magee Arena in Denton, Texas.
  • Softball. Iowa Hangs Tough; Falls to No. 8/9 Oklahoma
    The University of Iowa softball team hung tough with No. 8/9 Oklahoma before dropping a 6-3 decision at The Preview college softball showcase Saturday night at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.
  • M. Gymnastics. No. 12 Hawkeyes Set New Season High Team Score
    The University of Iowa men’s gymnastics team set a season high team score in a tri-meet against Minnesota and Brockport in the Sports Pavilion on Saturday night. The No. 12 Hawkeyes scored a 338.200 to top Brockport, but fell to No. 6 Minnesota.
  • Wrestling. Hawkeyes Send 6 to B1G Wrestling Finals
    The University of Iowa wrestling team advanced six wrestlers to tomorrow’s Big Ten Championships finals following semifinal competition at today’s conference tournament. The Hawkeyes went 6-2 in the semifinals, including 2-1 in overtime bouts.
  • Baseball. Iowa Falls at Austin Peay in 10 innings
    The University of Iowa baseball team dropped a 4-3 decision at Austin Peay in 10 innings Saturday. The game was played at Raymond C. Hand Park as part of the Austin Peay/Riverview Inn Classic.
  • Track. Mincy, Banse Record First Place Finishes
    The University of Iowa Track and Field Team captured two first place finishes at the Iowa State Qualifier Saturday. Tevin-Cee Mincy took the 60 meters title, while Matt Banse finished first in the weight throw.
  • Softball. Iowa Knocks Off No. 23 Oklahoma State, 5-3
    The University of Iowa softball team knocked off No. 23 Oklahoma State, 5-3, at The Preview college softball showcase at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. The win was the Hawkeyes’ first over a ranked opponent in four tries this season.
  • M. Basketball. So Close on Senior Day
    A determined second-half rally by Fran McCaffery’s squad came up short Saturday on Mediacom Court in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
  • Track. Hawkeyes Run at Alex Wilson Invitational
    The University of Iowa Track and Field Team sent three athletes to the Alex Wilson Invitational Saturday. Juniors Nick Holmes and Jeff Thode, and freshman Kevin Lewis competed for the Hawkeyes.
  • M. Basketball. Iowa Coach Fran McCraffery Likes the Effort despite the Loss
    Iowa Coach Fran McCaffery visits with the media following Iowa’s 70-66 loss to Northwestern Saturday in soldout Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Hawkeyes completed the regular season with a winning record.

  • Wrestling. Hawkeyes Send 8 to Big 10 Semifinals
    The fourth-ranked University of Iowa wrestling team is in second place after the quarterfinals of the 2012 Big Ten Championships. The Hawkeyes have 69 points. Penn State leads the team race with 78.5 points. Both teams have eight wrestlers alive in the championship bracket. Minnesota rounds out the top three with 59 points. Iowa went a perfect 8-0 in the quarterfinals.
  • M. Basketball. All-Around Effort Puts Gatens Among Hawkeye Elite
    Matt Gatens has been the talk of the league, and country, after a recent shooting barrage and helping lift the Iowa men’s basketball team to three wins in their last four games. Gatens and the Hawkeyes look to carry that momentum into today’s regular-season finale against Northwestern at 1:30 p.m. on Mediacom Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
